Is Threads The New Twitter?

The tech giant Meta has recently unveiled its latest project: Threads.

Late Wednesday, Meta released a text-based app called Thread, modeled after the famous social media platform Twitter. It offers an excellent opportunity to start a two-way conversation for casual users and content creators alike!

Ever since the new app made its debut, users can’t help but notice its striking resemblance to Twitter, so much so that it’s being called Meta’s attempt to direct previous Twitter users and advertisers who have been looking to switch platforms toward its own launched version, amid changing ownership and ongoing technical issues.

Threads is currently available in 100 countries for free on both App Store and Google Play Store. This article will explore the new app Threads in detail and how you can make it your new most-used platform.

All You Need To Know About Meta’s “Threads”

Meta goes the extra mile to make the switch easier for Twitter users; you can log in to Threads using your existing Instagram details!

You can follow the same accounts on the new platform that you’ve been following on Instagram. The only difference is that you can now engage in a conversation with them, similar to how interactions take place on Twitter.

As a Threads user, you can write and post content up to 500 characters long and include photos and videos up to 5 minutes long. That’s different from Twitter, which typically allows 280 characters for most users.

As far as the platform’s layout is concerned, it’s pretty similar to Twitter, so users of the latter platform shouldn’t find it too difficult to navigate.

What’s more, you can share a post you’ve made on Threads on multiple social media channels, including Instagram. The interconnectivity of Meta platforms makes them so unique and loved by millions of users!

Moreover, you’ll have the option to repost the posts made by other users, another feature that resembles Twitter’s famous ‘retweet’ function.

You can easily block, restrict and report inappropriate accounts as you’re used to with Instagram.

Is Threads The New Twitter?

Zuckerberg has commented on the new launch, saying, “I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it. Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will…”.

In light of the recent developments, one can’t help but recall when Instagram’s Reels were compared to the famous video-sharing platform that’s been on the rise since Covid-19, TikTok.

The general public has positively received the new app due to its easy functionality, and some are even calling it the ‘new’ Twitter!

It remains to be seen just how Threads will make itself the primary go-to platform for users.
